The SHARE Title IX & Title VI Office is offering a sexual assault prevention program designed for undergraduate students. The Flip the Script with EAAA® (pronounced E-triple A) program is a 12-hour small-group, evidence-based intervention designed specifically for 17–24-year-old university students of all sexual identities who identify as women or the experience of womanhood. The program is based on theory, research evidence, and best practices for providing young women with the knowledge and tools to defend themselves against attempts to sexually coerce or assault them. The SHARE Office welcomes and encourages applications from non-binary and gender non-conforming folks.

Why Flip the Script?

  • We’ve all heard the statistic: 1 in 4 women are sexually assaulted during college. Flip the Script helps us take action.
  • In a study of the program, participants were 50% less likely to experience sexual assault than their peers.

What is Flip the Script?

  • A research-backed empowerment-based sexual assault resistance program for undergraduate students
  • Part of the SHARE office since 2018, with over 100 students participating so far
  • Designed to strengthen confidence, communication, and boundary-setting skills

Supported by the Stanford School of Medicine and the SHARE Title IX Office.

History

In the spring of 2018, Stanford University offered the Enhanced Assess, Acknowledge, & Act (EAAA) Sexual Assault Resistance Education Program ("Flip the Script") to undergraduate women--inclusive of trans women--as part as of a pilot program, with an eye to implementing the program more broadly in subsequent years. Flip the Script is implemented in parallel to a program specifically for men & will eventually be implemented in parallel with a program for trans and/or gender non-conforming folks that are currently in development. This is one piece of a comprehensive strategy undertaken at Stanford University to reduce sexual violence and harassment on our campus.
