October: Dating/Domestic Violence Awareness Month
Domestic Violence Awareness Month was first observed in October 1987. In 1989, Congress passed Public Law 101-112, officially designating October as National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, with similar legislation passed every month since. The SHARE: Education Team invites you to get involved in our education, prevention, and response efforts.
The following charts show the various types of abusive behaviors what may occur in a relationship. In contrast the Equality Wheel demonstrates the characteristics of healthy relationships based on respect, equality, choice, and accountability.
